Curses are usually something a slot player wants to avoid, but Cursed Crypt builds its whole game around one. This Hacksaw Gaming release takes the familiar ancient Egyptian setting and makes it darker, with an ominous temple around the grid and a foreboding character watching over it. Here is how the game plays and what its features do.
Cursed Crypt overview
Cursed Crypt is one of the more atmospheric online casino games from Hacksaw Gaming, and it is played on a 5×4 grid with 1,024 ways to win. The animated character is one of the better parts of the graphics, and a mysterious soundtrack runs in the background while the reels spin. The max win multiplier is 10,000x, and the game will suit players who like an ancient Egypt theme with a horror edge.
Symbols and pays
There are no playing card symbols on the reels. The lower pays are pyramids, ankhs, Xs, solar eclipses, and snakes, which pay 1x for five of a kind. The higher pays are jaguars, wolves, eagles, monsters, and pharaohs, with multiplier prizes from 3x to 15x. There is also a snake wild that substitutes for other standard symbols and pays 20x for five of a kind.
Cursed reels
The zombie is the curse symbol. When it lands, the Cursed Reels feature is unlocked. The curse spreads upward to the top of the grid and transforms all of the symbols above it on that reel into the same type. That can turn a mixed reel into a reel of matching symbols.
Free spins
Three scatter symbols in the base game trigger the Wrath of Sobek free spins, which starts with 10 spins. Landing two or three more scatters during the round adds two or four spins. The chance of triggering Cursed Reels is higher while this feature is running. A four-scatter combination triggers the Tomb of Tutankhamun feature, which also gives 10 free spins. Any cursed positions in that round only turn into the highest-paying symbols or wilds.
RTP and volatility
The RTP is listed at 96.22%. That’s close to what most of the online slots offer. Volatility is listed as medium to high, so wins may be spaced out, although the 10,000x max win gives the game a high ceiling. Results come from a random number generator (RNG), so when luck brings success in this slot, it only applies to that spin and does not carry over to the next one.
Other key things
The minimum bet is quite low, so the game suits you best if you are on a smaller budget. Remember that in this kind of situation, you should follow a set limit because it keeps your gaming habit under control. Most casinos offer timeouts and self-exclusion if the game stops being fun.
